As a woman in my late 30's, I am not yet ready to accept some of the physical changes that come with aging. As an athlete and runner, I am not ready to slow down. About 5 years ago, I noticed some small bumps on the medial side of my left knee that appeared any time I was on my feet. As time went on the bumps became larger. I had also been competing in long distance and cycling races sometimes lasting 24-30 hours. After each race I had a little more edema in my lower left leg and ankle. I was also noticing that the varicose veins were spreading to the front of my shin and above my knee. This past spring I realized I was choosing capris instead of shorts because I was embarrassed of my ugly veins. I finally decided to get them checked out. I was nervous the first time, but after such a pleasant experience, I actually looked forward to the rest of the procedures. I was also very apprehensive about the cost but they worked with me to make it affordable to me. It has been three months and I am so pleased with the results. I'm back to wearing shorts!
